Working in a range of media including drawing, painting, sculpture and photography Ayesha’s work explores a poetics of space, paying particular attention to the relationship between materiality and process in the creative act. She will be the first artist from the Mahler & LeWitt Studios program to live and work in the Torre Bonomo.

Ayesha currently lives in Dhaka. She received a BFA in Visual Arts (2007) and a Post-graduate Diploma in Art Education (2008) from Beaconhouse National University in Lahore. She has exhibited across Europe and South Asia. Recently she was an artist in resident at the Delfina Foundation in London and the 2014 recipient of the Samdani Art Award, Bangladesh’s premier prize for artists. Her participation in recent solo and group exhibitions include Approaching Abstraction, Jhaveri Contemporary, Mumbai (2015); Immateriality in Residue (2015) and Outside the Field of View (2014), both at Experimenter, Kolkata; 1134 – Lives not Numbers, Pathshala South Asian Media Academy, Dhaka; B/Desh, Dhaka Art Summit, Shilpakala Academy, Dhaka; Cross-Casting, Britto Space a contemporary art hub, Dhaka; and Listen Up!, Delhi (all 2014).
